How to Use Left to Max for a Real Upgrade Plan
Use ClashVault's Left-to-Max calculator as an upgrade inventory and planning aid without mistaking partial coverage or raw duration for a guaranteed finish date.
ClashVault's Left-to-Max calculator answers a focused question: which tracked levels remain between this snapshot and the current caps for its Town Hall or Builder Hall? It turns a player tag or village export into a category-by-category inventory, then adds cost, duration, and recommendation data where ClashVault has matching upgrade rows.
It does not know when every builder will be free, how quickly you farm, which magic items you will use, or what Supercell will rebalance next. That distinction matters. Left to Max is strongest as an audit and decision aid, not as a guaranteed "days until max" clock.
Choose the input that matches the question
The calculator has two input modes because the official player profile and a village export contain different information.

Use a player tag when you want a quick offensive check or need to inspect another public profile. Use a village export when the decision involves builders, structures, walls, traps, or Builder Base. Do not interpret an API-only offensive percentage as total village completion.
After importing, read the source badge and tracked-entity summary before looking at percentages. If the tool reports unmapped entities, those items were not silently counted as maxed; they are outside that result until the mapping is reviewed.
Read completion as an inventory, not a grade
Left to Max compares each recognized current level with ClashVault's tracked ceiling for the snapshot's Town Hall or Builder Hall. The useful outputs are:
the current and tracked maximum level for each recognized entity;
remaining levels grouped by village and category;
completion percentages for the entities included in that group;
warnings about unavailable categories or unmapped input;
economics totals where matching cost and duration rows exist.
A percentage is not a judgment about whether the base is "good." Two villages with the same completion percentage can have very different readiness. One may have maxed offense and weak defenses; the other may have balanced defenses but an underleveled army. Open the categories and inspect what remains.
For a new Town Hall, low overall completion can be completely healthy if core army capacity, the laboratory, heroes, and the main attack are moving. For a player preparing to max, one missing trap or pet level may matter more than the percentage suggests. The account goal gives the number meaning.
Understand economics coverage before using totals
Cost and raw upgrade-time totals depend on ClashVault's economics catalog. The tool shows coverage because not every remaining level is guaranteed to have a current cost and duration row.
If coverage is complete for the displayed scope, the total represents all recognized remaining levels in that scope. If coverage is partial, the total is only the sum of covered rows. It is a lower-bound planning estimate, not proof that the missing levels cost nothing.
Use this sequence:
Check how many remaining levels the category contains.
Read the economics coverage percentage and warnings.
Use a total only for the covered scope.
Verify newly released or recently balanced values in game.
Send a correction through Contact when a catalog value no longer matches.
Raw duration is not real-world completion time
The duration total is the sum of supported upgrade timers. Left to Max does not divide that number across your builders or laboratory and call the result a finish date. A real calendar would need to model at least:
which builders and research slots are available;
upgrade dependencies and Town Hall gates;
resource farming and storage limits;
books, hammers, potions, runes, and event boosts;
hero availability preferences and war schedules;
idle time between completed and newly started upgrades;
future balance changes.
The raw total is still useful. Compare two categories, estimate the size of a backlog, or identify where supported timers are concentrated. Just do not present it as "you will max in 147 days."
Build a plan in three passes
Pass 1: choose the account goal
Pick one primary goal for the next planning window. Good examples are:
finish the army used in wars;
reach a hero or Hero Journey milestone;
prepare the minimum offense needed for the next Town Hall;
repair rushed core defenses without stalling offense;
complete the current Town Hall before advancing;
unlock a Builder Base milestone.
Avoid choosing "raise the percentage" as the goal. That can favor many cheap levels over the one upgrade that unlocks the next capability.
Pass 2: find the blockers in the relevant categories
Open the categories tied to the goal. For a war army, inspect heroes, equipment, troops, spells, pets, camps, Clan Castle, and the laboratory rather than every defense. For a completion goal, expand buildings, traps, walls, and any Builder Base section supplied by the export.
Write down a small queue:
must do next: blocks the goal or an unlock;
do while waiting: keeps another resource or progression slot productive;
safe fallback: lower-cost work for resource overflow or an unexpectedly free builder.
The queue should contain decisions you can fund, not every remaining level on the account.
Pass 3: compare recommendations with constraints
Goal presets can rank a suggested next upgrade from the imported state and available economics data. The Rush view separately compares offensive completion with milestone guidance. Treat both as prompts for review.
Before accepting a suggestion, ask:
Does its category exist in my chosen input, or was it unavailable?
Is the cost and duration row covered and current?
Does the upgrade serve my actual army, unlock, or completion goal?
Can I fund it without leaving a more important slot idle?
Will an event, war week, or hero-availability preference change the timing?
If the answer to one of those questions is no, choose a different item. The tool ranks from the data it has; it does not know every personal constraint.
Worked example: planning without a fake finish date
Imagine a Town Hall player who imports a village export and sees this pattern:
offense is close to the tracked cap for the main army;
two heroes still have several recognized levels remaining;
defenses have a much larger raw duration backlog;
economics coverage is high for heroes but partial for some new defenses;
a few export entities are unmapped.
A weak conclusion would be: "defenses have the biggest total, so upgrade the longest defense." A stronger plan is:
Confirm the main army's missing troop or spell level and keep the laboratory working on it.
Choose the hero level that reaches the next useful milestone or supports that army.
Use a separate builder on a high-impact defense that has a verified economics row.
Keep a cheap fallback ready for resource overflow.
Check the unmapped entities in game and exclude them from any claim of complete coverage.
This plan uses the inventory, the covered economics, and the player's goal. It does not manufacture a completion date from independent queues.
Planning around Summer Jam and other events
During a resource-discount event, filter the queue by both goal value and eligible resource. For Summer Jam 2026, Supercell scheduled Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir, and final all-resource phases. Left to Max can show which recognized levels remain; the in-game event panel determines the current discount and eligibility.
For example, during a Dark Elixir phase:
review remaining heroes, Dark Elixir troops, spells, or pets tied to the chosen goal;
check that their economics rows are covered before comparing totals;
keep enough Dark Elixir for normal army use;
prepare Gold and Elixir work for the later all-resource phase;
confirm hero availability rules in the current event rather than assuming a past event's behavior.
An event changes the timing of the queue, not the underlying reason for the upgrade.
Common interpretation mistakes
"My tag says I am nearly maxed"
A tag lookup is an offensive snapshot. It cannot certify a nearly maxed village without buildings, traps, walls, and other export-only data.
"The missing economics rows must have zero cost"
Missing rows are excluded from the supported total. Read the coverage indicator; do not fill gaps with zero.
"The longest raw timer should always be first"
Long duration increases the value of skipping or starting an upgrade, but it does not override unlocks, army needs, dependencies, resources, or hero availability.
"A recommendation is an automatic upgrade order"
Recommendations use imported levels and available catalog data. They do not know your war role, farming pace, inventory, or daily schedule.
"Builder Base progress came from my player tag"
Builder Base building coverage requires the village export. Always check the input source shown in the result.
A repeatable weekly review
Run a short review instead of rebuilding the entire plan every day:
Capture a fresh tag lookup or village export.
Confirm the input source and unmapped warnings.
Compare completion by the categories tied to the current goal.
Check economics coverage before using cost or duration totals.
Select one must-do, one parallel upgrade, and one fallback.
Recheck after a Town Hall change, major update, event phase change, or catalog warning.
This produces a plan that is specific enough to act on and flexible enough to survive normal game changes.
Methodology and limitations
Player-tag results use current public profile data returned through the official Clash of Clans API. Village-export results use the supplied snapshot. Level ceilings, mappings, costs, and durations come from ClashVault's structured catalogs. The page exposes source and coverage distinctions because a confident-looking total is low-value when its boundary is hidden.
Left to Max does not simulate builder availability, laboratory concurrency, farming income, magic-item inventory, event discounts, or a day-by-day calendar. Newly released Supercell content may appear as unmapped or lack economics rows until reviewed. Confirm recent values in game.
