About Upgrade Planner
The Upgrade Planner answers the question most Clash of Clans players ask after every upgrade finishes: what should go into the builder or laboratory next? It uses the same ranking engine as the signed-in ClashVault workspace. Each candidate is scored from how far it sits below its Town Hall cap, how close it is to finishing, and how much its category matters for the goal you choose.
A player tag reads the public Clash of Clans profile, which includes heroes, hero equipment, pets, troops, spells and siege machines. Buildings, traps and walls are not part of the public API, so the tag plan ranks offense only and says so. Picking a Town Hall instead builds a scenario where every item starts at the previous Town Hall's maximum, as if you had just upgraded. That scenario includes new buildings and unlocks, which makes it a useful checklist for the first weeks at a new Town Hall.
Goal presets change the category weights. War ready pushes heroes, equipment and army first. Fix a rushed base raises defenses and traps. Spend loot spreads work across builders. For Town Hall 7 to 16 the planner also shows the offense checkpoint ClashVault recommends before moving up. The ranking does not see active timers, resources, magic items or Gold Pass, so confirm the builder or lab is free and the upgrade is affordable before starting it.
How to use Upgrade Planner
- 1Enter a player tag for a plan from your real levels, or pick a Town Hall for a just-upgraded scenario.
- 2Choose a goal: best overall, war ready, fix a rushed base or spend loot.
- 3Review the ranked list; each row shows the next level, the cap at your Town Hall and why it ranks there.
- 4Check the Town Hall checkpoint before upgrading your Town Hall again.
- 5Share the plan card or link with your clan, then re-run after each upgrade finishes.
A ranked, explained upgrade order from a player tag with no sign-up, built on the same engine as the ClashVault workspace.
Ranking methodology and limits
Every unfinished item gets a score from three inputs: how far it sits below its cap at your Town Hall, a bonus when it is close to finishing, and the weight the selected goal gives its category. The ten highest scores are shown in order. Level caps come from ClashVault’s versioned max-level catalog, the same data used by Left to Max and the signed-in workspace.
A player tag only exposes the offense the official Clash of Clans API returns, so buildings, traps and walls are left out of tag plans rather than treated as level 0. The Town Hall option is a scenario, not your village: it assumes every item is at the previous Town Hall’s maximum.
The ranking does not know which builders or laboratory slots are busy, what you have in storage, or which magic items and boosts you hold. Treat it as an order of priority and start the highest-ranked upgrade you can actually begin. Send us a correction if a cap looks wrong.
See the calculation before using your own data
Example input: Town Hall scenario: a village that just upgraded to Town Hall 17, with every item at its Town Hall 16 maximum. The Barbarian King sits at 95 of 100, the Dragon Duke at 15 of 20 and the Lightning Spell at 11 of 12.
Example result: With the Best overall goal, the five older heroes take the first five places, the Dragon Duke ranks sixth and the Lightning Spell ranks seventh. Each row names the next level, for example King 95 to 96.
How to read it: Heroes carry the highest category weight, so a hero with five levels left outranks a spell one level from its cap. Changing the goal changes those weights; Spend loot moves buildings and walls up.
Boundary: The ranking cannot see builders already busy, stored resources, magic items or Gold Pass. Start the highest-ranked upgrade whose builder or lab is actually free and affordable.
