Portal Panic Guide: Dates, Portal Pendant and Medal Rewards

Plan Portal Panic around separate earning and shopping deadlines, understand Portal Pendant, and reserve medals using clearly sourced inventory and practical spending scenarios.

Medal budget checklist

Reserve the item you want before smaller purchases

Use your actual balance and separate earning from shopping deadlines.

  1. 01InspectConfirm your intended loadout

Check the hero, recall limits and role before choosing equipment.

  2. 02ReserveProtect your equipment budget

Subtract the in-game item price before spending the remainder.

  3. 03PlanCalculate upgrade ore separately

Compare current and target levels without treating ore costs as medal prices.

Decision ruleAn equipment purchase and its ore upgrades need separate plans.

Portal Panic is underway, but earning rewards and spending them have different deadlines. Start with the item you actually want, reserve its cost, and make smaller purchases from the remainder. This guide separates confirmed event facts, secondary inventory figures and conditional advice so you can make that decision without confusing the Event Pass with the Gold Pass.

Dates: finish earning before you finish shopping

MilestoneDeadline in UTC
Event beginsOctober 8, 2026, 08:00
Event progression endsOctober 25, 2026, 08:00
Trader's Event tab closesOctober 27, 2026, 08:00

Town Hall 6 is the minimum for the Medal Event. Sour Elixir collected in Home Village battles advances the track through the Sour Elixir Fountain; track progress earns Rift Medals. The later Trader deadline is a spending window, not extra time to complete collection. These dates and eligibility come from Supercell's event announcement.

Put two reminders in your calendar: one before progression closes, another before the Trader closes. Leave enough time to open the track, inspect outstanding claims and compare the shop with your written budget. A reminder at the closing instant is a poor substitute for completing those checks beforehand. This is a planning recommendation, not an additional grace period.

Convert UTC for each deadline

UTC is the reference time; 08:00 UTC does not mean eight in the morning wherever you play. Convert the full date and time rather than just copying an hour from another event. For a clock using UTC+05:30, add five hours and thirty minutes: 08:00 becomes 13:30. At UTC−04:00, subtract four hours: it becomes 04:00. At UTC+08:00, it becomes 16:00. Those examples are offset arithmetic, not assumptions about your location.

Use a calendar entry set to UTC and let your device display the local equivalent. Check its timezone setting, and convert the October 25 and October 27 entries separately: a seasonal clock change can make a familiar local reminder misleading. Keep the UTC value in the reminder's notes so you can recheck it if you travel. The published deadline remains the one to follow; your reminder is only a personal buffer.

What Portal Pendant does—and what not to assume

Portal Pendant is Epic Equipment for Minion Prince. It recalls him and nearby friendly troops and Heroes within its radius and capacity. Redeployed units receive partial healing and a temporary speed boost; Minion Prince is healed on activation. It also activates automatically to save him from fatal damage. Siege Machines are excluded. Official equipment mechanics.

It is not his first Epic Equipment: Supercell introduced Meteor Staff in October 2025. Meteor Staff announcement.

Our advice is to treat recall as an execution decision, not a universal improvement. If your army relies on a tight group near Minion Prince, watch which units enter the portal during a trial. If important troops are outside it, do not plan as though the entire army will return to your deployment bar. If your next placement matters more than the initial rescue, practise that placement instead of judging the item from the first activation alone.

Radius and capacity are limits, so a successful demonstration with one group is not proof that a different group will fit. Partial healing is not a full reset. A speed boost is not evidence that every redeployed unit survives its next target. These are cautious interpretations of the published mechanics, not measured damage, win-rate or ranking claims. Compare replays on similar bases and record what you would change before committing more upgrade resources.

Medal inventory: distinguish the free track from the Event Pass

Clash Ninja's inventory lists 3,100 Rift Medals on the free main track and 200 on its bonus track. It lists 5,500 more on the Event Pass, for 8,800 combined. It also lists Portal Pendant, Rocket Spear, Frozen Arrow, Fireball, Snake Bracelet and Rocket Backpack at 3,100 medals each. These figures are secondary-sourced; Supercell's public announcement does not itemize them. Check the in-game track and Trader before using them as your budget.

The premium event reward track belongs to the Event Pass, not October's seasonal Gold Pass. Supercell describes the event-specific pass separately from the October Gold Pass. Do not count the event's premium medals just because you bought a seasonal pass.

Work from your actual balance, not the maximum

The table below is arithmetic using that secondary inventory, assuming no medals have been spent elsewhere and every reward needed for the stated total has been claimed. It does not say that your account has already earned the maximum.

Completed rewardsMedal totalReserve one item at 3,100Reserve two at 6,200
Free main track3,1000 left3,100 short
Free main and bonus tracks3,300200 left2,900 short
Event Pass medals alone5,5002,400 left700 short
Free, bonus and Event Pass combined8,8005,700 left2,600 left

The important correction is that 5,500 cannot buy two items priced at 3,100. Two cost 6,200. The 8,800 combined total can cover two with 2,600 remaining; it cannot cover three costing 9,300. Extra offers or medals are not included in this calculation unless you have actually confirmed them for your account.

Use a small note with four entries: current claimed balance, already purchased rewards, next reserved item, and remainder after that reserve. Your current shop balance already reflects purchases; do not subtract the same purchase a second time. If a desired item is not yet affordable, mark the shortfall explicitly instead of spending the reserve on smaller rewards while assuming the full track will eventually make up the difference.

Four useful spending scenarios

You want one equipment item and are staying on the free track

Using the inventory above, the completed free main track covers one listed equipment item exactly. Completing the bonus track would leave 200 afterward. Reserve the equipment cost first, then check whether any smaller reward you want fits the remainder. The phrase “free track” is not evidence that you have completed it: compare the claimable milestones with your real balance before treating an item as covered.

If you are undecided between two pieces, write down the Hero and army each one would serve. Try the available challenge rather than choosing solely because an item is new. If you already own the item you intended to buy, inspect the shop before assigning its price to a new purchase. This guide does not promise identical account-specific availability for every reader.

You have the Event Pass but have not completed both tracks

Do not substitute the maximum combined total for the balance you can spend today. Identify which premium rewards are still unclaimed and how much progression time remains. The 5,500 pass-only figure is useful for separating the two tracks, but it is not a two-equipment budget by itself. If completion is uncertain, make the purchase plan fit confirmed rewards rather than an optimistic final total.

Before deciding whether to buy a pass, compare the offer shown to you with the rewards you can realistically claim. Consider your remaining play time and personal spending limit. We are not claiming a universal price, refund rule or best-value purchase. A pass is optional; a clear free-track plan is better than paying for a maximum you will not reach.

You have the full combined total and want two equipment items

Reserve 6,200 of the 8,800, leaving 2,600 for other choices under the stated assumptions. Write both target names beside that reserve. A decoration, magic item or ore purchase comes from the remainder, not from an invisible extra allowance. A third similarly priced equipment item would require another 500 beyond the full combined total, before any other spending.

Choose the pair by the armies and Heroes you expect to use. If both items would compete for the same limited upgrade resources, consider whether acquiring them now fits your longer-term plan. Ownership and immediate upgrade readiness are different decisions. We are not predicting which equipment will dominate future balance changes or claiming that buying two is automatically better than buying one.

Your priority is ore or cosmetics instead of equipment

Set the equipment reserve to zero only if that is a deliberate choice. Then compare the actual quantities, costs and purchase limits visible in your Trader. The six equipment prices above are not a complete shop inventory, and a medal total is not an ore total. If you value a decoration more than a marginal upgrade, that is a preference you can budget for; it is not evidence of a progression advantage.

Keep the comparison consistent: medals spent, reward quantity received, and whether the reward solves a current need. Avoid adding Gem prices, medals and ore amounts as though they were the same unit. Do not turn a temporary offer into a universal conversion rate unless the specific trade has been checked. This approach works even if your final balance is lower than the example totals.

Trial windows and temporary troops

Supercell's October calendar lists the Portal Challenge for October 6–13, open to every Town Hall. It lists the maximum-level Portal Pendant boost for October 20–25 at TH9+. A boost is not a promise of a free unlock. Totem Thrower attacks ground targets from six tiles away; its first attack and every fourth afterward throw a stunning totem that creates a stationary decoy. The October 7–8 giveaway was TH10+, while Battle Options returns October 17–21 for TH6+.

Totem Thrower is also unlockable through the Medal Event track. Do not confuse the earlier giveaway with the event-track route. Availability in one trial or event is not proof of availability in every battle mode; check the game where you intend to use the troop.

For a useful trial, choose one question: did the recall save the units you intended, did the new placement improve their route, or did the decoy affect the defenses you were testing? Change one deployment choice at a time. A replay with several simultaneous changes is harder to learn from, even if the result looks stronger. These are practice suggestions, not a tested army recipe.

Ore prices and the upgrade decision

Supercell announced a permanent lower baseline: Shiny Ore from 1 to 0.5 Gems, Glowy from 5 to 3, and Starry from 35 to 20. Its ore-price announcement describes a phased rollout: the Trader since July, October's medal shop next, and standard prices elsewhere with the next full update. Do not describe this as a temporary October discount or assume every interface has already changed.

Use the ClashVault ore calculator to plan equipment upgrade costs. It is an ore-upgrade tool, not a Rift Medal shopping calculator. Check your current equipment level and intended target, then compare the required ore with what you already own. Return to the in-game Trader for medal costs and limits; the calculator is not a substitute for that inventory.

If your bottleneck is one ore type, compare offers for that need rather than buying whichever bundle has the largest raw number. If the equipment is still only a trial idea, avoid treating an expensive upgrade target as a settled requirement. Set a target that fits a planned loadout, and reassess it after the challenge. No upgrade cost or reward quantity is invented in this recommendation.

Quick answers before the closing window

Does the October Gold Pass include the event's premium medal track? Do not assume so. The premium inventory discussed here is attributed to the Event Pass. Check the name of the offer and the track it unlocks, not just the word “pass.”

Can I keep collecting during the final two shopping days? Do not budget as though the Trader extension extends progression. Use the October 25 earning deadline and October 27 spending deadline separately.

Is Portal Pendant a full-army reset? No such claim is made here. Plan around the published radius, capacity, partial healing and Siege Machine exclusion. A trial with a small group does not establish unlimited recall.

Should I wait because the equipment might return? We cannot promise a future return or permanent absence. Make the decision from the current deadline, your budget and the role you want the item to fill. Rumors are not a spending schedule.

What if the game and this guide disagree? Stop and check the exact reward, track and date in the game. The numbers here are explicitly secondary-sourced, and the guide has a dated verification note. A different balance could reflect incomplete claims or prior spending; do not assume the maximum table applies to your account.

Before the Trader closes, review the reserve note, finish any intended purchases with time to spare, and check what remains. The goal is a plan you understand, not spending every medal on an item you never intended to use.

Review your supported upgrade progress

Use a player tag for public-profile offense or a Village Export for recognized structural progress, then check the coverage warnings before planning your next upgrade.
